About the Work

"Let go of everything. Make Nothing. Let things be as they are." Gyalwang Drukchen Rinpoche

Making No Making is a site-specific installation featuring a suspended California Buckeye tree, wall drawing and painting with charcoal made of burnt, dried Buckeye sticks and paint, made from live green Buckeye leaves ground with mortar, pestle and water. Gallery storefront walls and windows feature three mobile video projections playing on a continual loop, "Spinning Begonia, Worm Glow, Bee Bust" shot in the San Francisco Mission 2003. An original sound piece with music and spoken word plays both inside and outside the building, creating an audio-visual experience for both gallery and street viewing. Live art includes Tracy Ginsberg mixing paint and making charcoal which is used to paint gallery walls and Javier Cordoba performing Butoh dance. Viewers interact by writing and drawing on the exhibition walls and by moving video projections across the gallery space with a pull string.
Mina Dresden Gallery, San Francisco, CA 2008.
