About the Work
Trilateral Pyramid: Green Tara Ascending is a site-specific, interactive, performative sculpture that transforms from day to night.
Honoring the deity Green Tara, Trilateral Pyramid features transparent chiffon and organza walls covered in oil paint and silkscreens of Tara, and a triangular, interior cushion platform. The pyramid functions as a translucent shade structure for meditation and introspection by day; at night, the pyramid is lit from within, as an indigo light emanates from the sculpture's apex. The fabric walls shimmer both inside and out, as the pyramid becomes a glowing green-blue sacred space for solitude or intimacy.
Trilateral Pyramid pays homage to nearby Pyramid Lake, one of Earth's seven female chakra centers; adjacent to Black Rock Desert, Burning Man, "Greening the Man" 2007.
